“The history of the Calgary Yacht Club (CYC) is linked to the city of Chestermere and mirrors its growth. ‘You can’t have Chestermere without the yacht club,’ says Michael Hooper, Chestermere resident and former Commodore. As the city started as a recreational destination and developed into what it is today, so in 1924 the CYC was an informal sailing group, becoming a formal club in August 1933. Join Michael as he recounts the history of this club now nearing its 100th anniversary.”
