City and Historical Foundation Working Together

Donated Plaques

Chestermere Historical Foundation received a number of historic items from the City of Chestermere.  In 2014 the city gave CHF two brass plaques from the original summer village and the town building.  As well CHF managed to salvage some of the bricks from the first Summer Village office.  More recently in December 2018 the city gave CHF three more ( this time indoor plaques) for their collection.  One of these had an interesting story in the Chestermere Anchor “Rolling on into History” which you can read here.  Today these are displayed in the Chestermere Library, but CHF hopes that some time in the future there will be a museum type area dedicated to display of the many artifacts which CHF owns.  One of the plaques, with a photo of a train car featuring Chestermere Lake as a holiday destination, was seen just recently by Brent Paquette.  You can read more about this in the Anchor article above.  Here are two photos Brent took of the train car while visiting in Prince George BC.
