Mural Project 2013 to 2017

Murals for Chestermere Lift Station #10 and Fees Building 2013- 2017

The Chestermere Historical Foundation was pleased to partner with EPCOR in 2013 (Managers Dan Skidmore and later, Brent Lovac) http://www.theanchor.ca/2013/historical-murals-for-reservoir-10/   to provide 11 murals on three walls of  Lift Station #1 (Chestermere Utilities Inc.) located at the corner of Chestermere Blvd and Rainbow Road.  With the support of the then Town of Chestermere, this was accomplished with the expertise of SignCraft Digital (Trent deGuisebriand) and the use of many images from the Glenbow Museum and Archives. The Historical Foundation was pleased that this project was mentioned in an internal EPCOR newsletter as an example of a great community partnership.

There were funds available to do two more murals, this time on the Fees Building at John Peake Park.  These photos also represented of the lake sports activities over the years. http://www.theanchor.ca/2013/more-murals-make-their-way-to-town/ The Lift Station murals were unveiled at a ceremony held during Chestermere Water Fest, July 27th, 2013, with the Fees Building ones unveiled at Chestermere Arts Days, September 28th 2013.

The original application of vinyl for the Lift STation murals did not last as expected, SignCraft and EPCOR ( Manager Davey Robertson) followed up with continued support to redo the murals using these same images impressed on a metal backing similar to those on the Fee Building.

It was very exciting to see these murals renewed in 2017 to show the many well known images of Chestermere’s history.  http://www.theanchor.ca/2017/historical-murals-revitalized/
